Pitch Competition

Pitching yourself for a job interview is a skill every professional needs to develop. The SUU Ivory Homes Pitch Competition is a 90-second interview in which you position yourself as being “right for the job.” Like an elevator pitch competition, your goal is to provide two to three key selling points for why you are an ideal candidate and then support these qualifications with examples. And of course, the end goal is to get hired (close the deal). 

 

Submissions open Monday, November 6 at 8:00 am and close Wednesday November 15th at 11:59 pm.  

 

  1. Register for the competition here by November 3rd

  2. Select which job at Ivory Homes you are most interested to apply for from the job descriptions below

  3. Write a 90-second pitch that includes the following: name, graduation date, skills, and closing (ask for the interview). 

  4. Find email instructions from us that direct you how to video your pitch and upload to our Flip.com channel. 

 

Awards-Prize Money:

1st place - $125, 2nd place - $75, 3rd place - $50

Possible jobs for your pitch

Marketing Associate

  • Partner with Product Managers to source new products by reviewing customer comments and returns and completing competitor product reviews.

  • Communicate with vendors to maintain relationships and solve issues.

  • Participate in Ivory Homes vendor research and sourcing strategies.

  • Support the catalog preparation processes and participate in catalog meetings.

  • Collaborate with key Creative, Purchasing and Pricing stakeholders.

  • Work with the Quality Control team to maintain product quality and consistency.

  • Visit vendors and attend product trade shows to increase knowledge of manufacturing processes and market trends.

  • Assist on the marketing team to keep Ivory Homes website and social media accounts presentable and up-to-date.

 

Accounting Associate

  • Assumes responsibility of month-end close tasks including (but not limited to):

    • Fixed asset, intangible, and deferred rent reconciliations

    • Assist with accrual entries

    • Assist with bank reconciliations

    • Prepaid expense management and reconciliation

    • Inventory management/ordering

    • Monthly close journal entries

    • Lease management

  • Oversee or support credit card usage to ensure receipts are available and appropriate recording of transactions with the general ledger

  • Assist with various accounting activities for the integration of acquired companies

  • Assist in supplying documentation in a yearly external audit

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations

 

Finance Associate

  • Assist with spending and investment budgets

  • Audit and process vendor invoices for payment

  • Prepare and enter journal entries

  • Collect, interpret, and review financial data

  • Produce financial reports for management and stakeholders

  • Assist with the development and tracking of departmental budgets

  • Identify and establish strategies to improve processes and reduce financial risk

Sales Associate

  • Work closely with customers to answer questions and resolve concerns

  • Represent Ivory Homes in a variety of situations

  • Communicate with vendors to maintain relationships and solve issues.

  • Share and maintain up to date information about Ivory Homes and its promotions

  • Collaborate with team members for sales
